Upcoming issues - call for submissions

Postby sara2112 » Wed Aug 24, 2011 3:43 pm

The Piker Press is published weekly on Monday. Each issue features a variety of fiction (short or serialized), non-fiction, poetry, and art.

The Piker Press always welcomes seasonal submissions. We also have several non-holiday theme issues during the year. This calendar shows the dates of future seasonal and theme issues.

Submission guidelines are located here. If you are a first-timer submitting work for a seasonal or themed issue, please submit your work at least four weeks in advance of the issue date.

[added 6/11/2005] A question came up at one of the staff confabs after this list was posted: "That's a lot of themes. Do we HAVE to write about them all?" No! April Fools is really the only issue where we insist that pieces stay on topic. The rest of the time, we just want to support the Piker Press mission of encouraging people to keep writing. The themes list is here to remind you of upcoming events (since issue dates may be before the actual date) and kickstart your imagination when you don't know what to write about.

The dates listed are US-centric, since most of our writers are from the US. If you are not in the US, we would still love to hear about your own national holidays and events. For holidays that are celebrated on different days in different places, though, we prefer to keep them grouped into the one issue on the dates listed below.

[added 7/26/2005] The powers that be have activated the Calendar features of the forums. To see it, click "Calendar" at the top of any forum page. Eventually, all of the upcoming special issues will be recorded there.
